For me, the pursuit of fitness has always been a way of life.
It began when I was a little girl, following my big brothers around the gym and trying my best to keep up with them. As time went on, I became a young girl in middle school who would inevitably fall prey to the insecurity that comes from a changing body. This insecurity would only grow as I entered high school, giving way to destructive behavior and a variety of eating disorders.
What had started as a way to spend time with people I love had become a prison.
But then came the grace and love of a God who would teach me over the next fifteen years that I am so much more than a number on a scale. Like many women, I still struggle with insecurity but I am no longer defined by the way others view me. Instead, I am choosing to walk in His freedom, exchanging the voice of insecurity for the melody of His praise.
It is in this exchange that I have come to understand that the pursuit of physical transformation is only healthy when it comes alongside a Jesus-breathed passion. It is my hope that this space will be filled with God’s immovable truth. Truth that will motivate you, inspire you and empower you toward health in both your physical and spiritual journey.
Because at the end of the day, each one of us is running a race for an eternal purpose. The Enemy wants us to believe that it is one of comparison, vanity and materialism. But the race of grace defines the Christian life. So join me, friends.
Together, we’ll seek His face, chase His truth and run His race from now until Home.
