Spiritual Fitness Challenge Day 4
Awe man! I totally overslept this morning! I dont know if my body is just more exhausted than usual from the increased activity or what, but I feel so tired! It's okay, I will overcome. Rolled out of bed, went straight to the coffee machine (so grateful for our coffee machine!) and sat down for some more goodness in Psalms.
No doubt Psalms is one of the best-loved book in the Old Testament. I heard once someone once call it the solid 'gold' of the bible! Pop in Psalms anywhere and you will surely find a treasure that hits you somewhere in your life. Its a book that reflects the life of a believer, pictured in all its possible experiences; joy, sorrow, victory and failure- all things that each of us experience today. I don't know about you, but I love reading or hearing about others who go through similar things that I do in my life. It encourages me and reminds me that I am not alone.
Spiritual 5 minutes (minimum)
This morning I read in Psalms 9, reading about David thanking the Lord. In verse 1 he says, "I am thanking you God, from a full heart, I am writing the book on your wonders. I am whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I am singing your song, High God." Jumping for JOY?! WOW. It is clear here how passionate he is here about God. David surely was a man after God's own heart. JOY- I want more of that.... and I want to be a woman after God's own heart. . .
Skipping on down to verse 9 it says, "God's a safe-house of the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; you're never sorry you knocked." In my bible, I wrote that out to the side of my bible, emphasized those words in bold ink, and highlighted that passage ! It stood out to me. He is telling us, reminding us that if we only trust Him, He does not abandon us. We may be knocked down, but he is our safe-house. A present-day example of this that came to my mind is a local ministry here in the DFW are called Embrace Grace. Embrace Grace is an beautiful non- profit group that started just a few years ago whose mission is to inspire and equip the church to love on single and pregnant women and their families. EG provides a safe place (a sanctuary) for young women/girls who are in crisis, and pregnant a safe place to go- a refuge in time of need. Here, they are loved, accepted, and reminded the truth that they are brave and they will be amazing mommas. Such a beautiful example of being the hands and feet of God! I believe God totally uses us down here to love on His people, to be a safe place for someone in crisis to come to, and through prayer and support we are able to remind them the truth of who God says they are. You can find more info about them here:

Fitness 5 Minutes (minimum) : So, the workouts I talk about today, I've already done (usually the day before). It just works out that way for my crazy schedule! Yesterday, I tried out a spin class at my local gym. I was laughing because in the first 3 minutes I felt like I was dying! I did that for 50 minutes. What a great workout! Have you ever tried it?
Please comment below what you read about today and tell me how you MOVED for your fitness today!

Romans 1:16
Proverbs 11:21- I remember a line from a popular song when I was younger “when you feelin’ down and out, read Proverbs”
It’s so relevant and so true- how the words in this book affirm Gods promises and help remind you to look away from fear and instead focus your gaze on Heaven. So often, the overwhelming noise from the world can feel crushing as an adult- imagine that from a teens perspective. Dealing with so many social pressures, hormones, and personal identity confusion you can empathize with what they are experiencing. I always feel the need to pray for and over my children- not out of fear, but as an added layer of protection.
Stamina was a key player in my 1/5 thankful bucket today. Having the energy for a highly charged emotional day was very necessary.
Although im always moving, I want each step to be purposeful- so I cut about :14 to focus on strength and balance.
I love my Thursday morning Spin class at Lifetime! Finished that this morning and went straight into Leviticus with the kiddos….did you know that the priest couldn’t tear their garments or mourn over the dead because they were the living symbol of life? Well in the gospels when Jesus answer the high priest questions right before his death, the priest then turns and tears his robes!!!!! He is giving up his role as high priest because…..wait for it….Jesus is about to step in as the ultimate high priest. I wouldn’t have found that had I not been discussing Leviticus with a friend who also shared what God was teaching her at the moment. I love that God gives us these books of law in the OT so that we can be SHOCKED with how well Jesus fulfills the law in the NT!!
Read from Jesus Calling (by Sarah Young) this morning. January 4 topic: TRUST, “Try saying, ‘I trust You, Jesus,’ in response to whatever happens to you.” Verses featured: Psalm 63:2, Isaiah 40:10-11, and Psalm 139:7-10 (one of my favs).
I Thess 5:8. “But since we are of the day, we must be sober and put the armor of FAITH and LOVE on our chests, and put on the helmet of the HOPE OF SALVATION.”
This daughter of light and of the day will not be caught off guard as those who walk in the darkness!
