Day 41: Broken but Not Crushed

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not cursed; perplexed, but not driven to despair, persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed..."2 Cornin 4:7

Psalm 34 "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Depression runs in my family. I know it is a very real thing. I have seen the devastating affects of its destruction in the lives of many of my own family members.  We all are broken in some way. Sometimes, when you're in a dark place, you think you've been buried but you've actually been planted.  Jesus invites us to bring all of our broken parts to Him. The cool thing about living a life following Jesus is there is hope. He is the only hope we have. Over the weekend, this message stuck out to me and I wanted to share it with you. When you are struggling and in a dark place, and the enemy has jumped on your back, not releasing his firm grip on you, let this set in :

1. I can't.

2. God can.

3. Let Him.

Prayer: Father, in my darkness, You are light. Help me to feel that you are near. Fill me up today. Bring back my joy again. When I just know I can't Lord, Help me to believe that that only You can. I surrender the spirit of heaviness and pain to You. Help my unbelief.  I surrender to You today, for You are my only real hope. Amen.
