Day 14: Give it to God

A mother of a seven year old wrote into me one day, asking for prayer for her daughter struggling with anxiety.

Seven years old. "What kind of stress and anxiety is there for children?" I thought. It absolutely broke my heart. Childhood should be fun, carefree, and simple but sometimes it is not.

Another woman that I will keep anonymous, emailed me asking if God would be mad at her for taking anxiety pills.

We are definitely living in the end times. There is chaos, confusion, and evil everywhere and its only getting worse. How do you get free from anxious thoughts and irrational fears that hold you down?

Connect with the Father. He is the source of life! What are we doing to stay connected? To keep our kids connected? It's easy to check all the boxes; Go to church. Check. Bible study, check. Pray for others. Check. ..etc. But are we really connecting with Him? C.S Lewis says this,“Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done." Wow.

God cares about whats going on in your life and in mine. He cares about what is going on in you and whats going on with you and your heart. God is in constant pursuit of your heart. Connect with him. He wants to spend time with you. When you spend time with Him, you will be so blessed by it. The antidote to worry is worship.

Before you hit the ground running every day, put God first and give your worries to him. If we don't, the enemy has already planned his attack and we will be hit full force with the attacks before we even walk out the door.

Prayer: God, help me to keep my eyes focused on you. When I don't know what to do or what direction to go, help me to give it to you and trust your direction in my life. I want more of You God. Amen.

TI Tip:

  • Fix your eyes on Him. Spend some intentional time every day connecting with Him. I personally have a daily appointment for my devotion time on my calendar so that I can stay focused.   I have alarms set on my phone with the purpose of stopping, re-focusing, and meditating on His Word and His promises. If I don't do these little things to help me remember, I will forget.
  • Renew Your Mind. Some of the most important battles we fight are the ones inside our minds. Renewing your mind. This is how we can break the pattern of lies and attacks that we sometimes feel are just constant and that we can't seem to get free from. Romans 12:1 says, " let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think." No matter how long its been, no matter how awkward you may feel, open the Bible and jump right in! It's about recalibrating your mind and feeding it truth that will overshadow the lies.
  • Put Your Emotions on Jesus. Shame, anger, anxiety, bitterness, fear does not have to lead your life. God wants to restore you. One of my favorite verses says this, "Instead of shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours." Surrendering your emotions and placing them on the cross is a sure way to freedom.

Many Blessings,

Brittany
