Happy Valentines Day!

This day can be a bit controversial as not everyone has a typical 'valentine' per our culture's definition of a valentine. I am here to tell you that Jesus is your Valentine! He is all you need!  He loves you more than ANYone!  .....

I am also excited to share with you some important truths of LOVE that we can share to our children.  I am always looking for opportunities to share Jesus with my littles. Here are tips for sharing God's truth into the lives of your little ones, especially your daughters.

1. You are a Daughter of the King

Romans 8:14-17 says' We have been adopted by God. The Spirit makes us sons (and daughters) of the Most High God. Because of this, we cry, "Abba, (Daddy) Father." We're heirs! Wow! Take that in for a minute. You are an Heir. We are set to inherit all that our Father has for us.

Many of us girls grew up playing 'princess'. Its very common to see little girls want to play dress-up in the fancy gowns, put on the crowns, and pretend to be royalty. The fancy dresses, the crown, the jewels. Life in the castle is the dream, right?  We would find Mom or Dad, and we wanted to twirl and dance to show off such beauty because we knew it would bring smiles to their faces. Most of us want to shine for the King, to bring a smile to His face, to please his heart as he looks adoringly at us. As we get older, many forget our dreams and desires that we had when we were little. As life hits us, we no longer see ourselves as beautiful princesses wearing the crown and or jewels, we no longer see ourselves as royalty.  But God hasn't forgotten that little girl in you with those royal desires. He still sits on the throne and He continues to delight in you because you will always be His daughter.

2. Follow Jesus, Not Your Heart

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. "Proverbs 3:5-8

Unlike what we think, our hearts and feelings cannot be trusted. Why? Because, feelings are ever-changing, un-predictable and make up a fragile and flimsy foundation.  Only truth is a solid foundation on which to stand.   Without truth and guidance from God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, one can easily fall to the pressures of this world – often leading to discontentment and dead-ends.

The Lord, however, is the most trustworthy of all. He is unchanging, our ever-reliable compass in the hills and valleys of life. God’s truth heals and refreshes us to live rightly and fully. God's truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It never, ever changes.

By placing our faith and identity in Jesus, we can be anchored in His deep truth and we will be immovable.

3. You are Blessed to be You:

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. Psalm 139:13

Have you ever just spent time praising God for making you you? As women, we often compare and long to want what others have. We are our own harshest critic. "If only I had her hair." "If only my body looked like that.." "If only I drove a car like hers., lived in that house.." Instead of focusing on our own blessings, we are quick to shift our focus on others and what they have.  Take a few minutes to simply write down all the things you are grateful for about you. Writing down things helps so much because it causes us to open our eyes, see the good in what the Lord has given to us, and how much he has given you. No one person has the perfect body or perfect life! When we take the time to express gratitude, everything comes into perspective. You are blessed to be you!

4. Purity is a Precious Gift from God

“…And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit.” 1 Corinthians 7:34

There can be godly beauty to both singleness and marriage—and the key ingredient is purity. Whether one’s solely devoted to God, or also devoted to the husband God gives, a sound conscience and security results from outer and inner holiness.

We are made in the God's image, and once saved our bodies are a “temple” of the Holy Spirit. These are blessings not to be taken lightly. We love Jesus when we carry ourselves with integrity . There is a particular and wonderful life gifted to a woman who is fully committed to the Lord – her body saved for His holy purpose and preserved for the man He specifically set apart for her.

When we fall short and make mistakes in purity, God is also gracious if we repent—pleased by our desire to be made new through forgiveness in His Son.

3. Your Worth is found in Jesus

“and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority…” Colossians 2:10

Nothing can complete you except for Christ.

On our own we can strive for success and affirmation, but eternal rest is only found in Jesus.

With Him we don’t have to prove anything, but instead we can humbly lay our weary and weak hearts before Him and be made whole. He gives us infinite worth through His redemption—with Him we are daughters of God.

We can be satisfied because we know Jesus is enough and His Great Commission is our ultimate calling. He is pleased when we put our hands and minds to work for His glory, trusting Him with the results. As long as we using our skills and passions unto Him, we are doing what we were created to do.

6. Beauty Comes From Within

“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

Maybe you're not happy with what you see in the mirror sometimes. Remember, your true 'reflection' isn't what you see in the mirror at all. You are a reflection of your heavenly Father who adores you and whats the very best for your life. His imprint on your heart radiates from the inside out, making you so beautiful! So, Instead of focusing on what you want to change outwardly, begin focusing on having peace from the inside out that only God gives.

Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

The godly, strong, ideal man God has for you will find you through your love for the Lord, not your love for makeup or clothes, or any other material things of this world.

7. With God, You are Courageous and  Never Alone:

Isaiah 41:10 says, 'fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

There will be times that we are afraid. Where we feel alone and that no one else understands. God sees you and He says that He is at your right hand.

Psalm 46:5 says, "God is with her, she will not fall, God will help her at break of day."

8. Jesus wants to be Your Best Friend:

"The righteous choose their friends carefully." Proverbs 12:26

No matter what age you are, friendships can be difficult. I know first hand! Growing up with two brothers, most of my life I secretly found myself longing for a sister, a best friend, a blissful connection with another that would bring laughter, joy, and a lifetime of memories. But, sometimes thats not reality. There will be seasons of friendships. God brings people in our lives for a reason and a season. Not only that, He wants us to hang around the right people. If we hang around the wrong people, we'll end up going in the wrong places , doing the wrong things, and  in the wrong directions. The right friends will point you in the right direction. They will celebrate you and not just tolerate you or  isolate you. The right friends are encouraging and are honest in their words that are spoken to you. In other words, Jesus is the perfect best friend. He will guide you in the right direction, he will encourage you, not isolate you, he will lift you up and never leave you feeling rejected or alone. He will never hold anything against you, or over you, His grace and His mercies are new every day.

9. You are Precious, Protected, and Powerful and Fully Loved:

"Because you are precious in my eyes, and honors, and I love you..." Isaiah 43:4

God's love is unwavering. In a world where love is so casual, God's love for you is nothing like the love you may have for ice cream, lollipops, or for when you are older, even for a boy! Like standing on the edge of the beach, looking out into the vast seas, you are unable to see the water's edge. It goes on and on as far as the eye can see. So vast, so wide- God's love is the same way! Ever lasting, unending, and incomprehensible! His love for us is beyond our ability to comprehend! As a mother who wants the world for her daughters, God wants even more for them. As a mother who holds good of plans for my girls , God has even better plans!

God wants these truths to be held tightly and remembered. The days we live here on this earth are not the whole of our existence. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that we have eternity set in our hearts- "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

The bottom line for our girls is this truth- Our girls reflect the very image of God in their own, sweetly designated way. Were are so treasured, so valued, so precious, and we were absolutely made for more.

"The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3
