Day 20: Be Present

I want to teach my kids the difference between what is temporary and what is eternal. I can only do this if I create healthy boundaries from my work and focus on being more present in their lives.
It says in James 4:14, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then it vanishes."
Being an entrepreneur can be wonderful and fulfilling but it can also be complicated, messy, and exhausting. I recall many times, having my laptop out and working diligently on designing another tee or something important at the time. Two feet away from me, my toddler sits, just waiting me to play with her. It's such a struggle. Being present can be such a challenge, such a source of frustration. Mentally, we are ping- ponging back and forth between customers and kids, never able to fully being able to concentrate on anything. Physically we are tense and easily frustrated, and when either makes even the most reasonable request, we are so tapped out and easily irritated because we are simply exhausted.
Ask the Lord for not only good physical boundaries, but for good mental boundaries as well.  Boundaries are something I’ve been praying for so much lately. I can physically put the phone away and play with my kids, but as someone who loves to work, its very difficult for me  to switch off that side of my brain and simply play. Sometimes we find Kingdom work more important that the little ones that need our presence and stewarding at home.  It is so important that we set aside this time, establish healthy working boundaries, and focus on being present.
TI Tip:
Ask yourself this; What matters most? What are my priorities? What do I need to focus more on and what can wait? What do I need to let go of? What boundaries and changes can you start in your day that will allow you more time to pour into family and friends?  Write your answers down so you can see them and reflect on them.
Dear God, forgive me for my constant busyness. Help me not to wear this 'busyness' as a badge of honor. Grant me wisdom. Bless me with insight . Guide me in knowing when and wear to place boundaries in my life and my home life. In your Son's name, Amen.
Many Blessings,
